So when we do Forklift training we endeavour to make it as difficult as possible for the delegates, we do have guidelines over the space allowed in a pallet chicane, here the delegate demonstrates near perfect position to get the loaded forklift (combined gross weight of over 5900kgs) around both of the 90 degree left & right hand turns. A fair degree of practice and understanding goes into this prior to them being this good at it, and me picking the knocked over pallets up where they are learning this skill. People do ask “When am i likely to use this skill again?”
In tight situations you will remember how the machine is able to turn through 90 degree’s – whether its any where on the current sight, or even in the future on another tight site or area. Its something that stays with the operator for as long as they drive the machine.
