Spent a great 3 days in Gloucester this week, conducting Telehandler training on a site that made for some great training, the delegates benefitted from using all available attachments on the various tasks required around the 200 acre site. Lorries were unloaded as well. All delegates were excellent, in both their attitude & practical application. I very much look forward to a return to this location in the Gloucestershire sun!

This experienced Counter balance operator was converted over to the companies Pivot Steer forklift earlier this week in a 1 day course run up in Worcester. The delegate demonstrated a safe attitude and a willingness to learn a new machine, which by his own admission was technically a harder machine to operate. Using these machines requires lots of practise (which he had) and a lot of concentration. Well done Sandro! Now stay safe!

Another return to a repeat client, this time putting 2 delegates through their paces on a beautiful sunny day in Devon today. Both experienced delegates attained the standard and demonstrated a safe attitude combined with good knowledge & sympathetic use of the lorry loader.

So this week i have been in Plymouth at Devonport Royal Naval Dockyard providing staff with IPAF MEWP training. A cold but sunny and fresh day saw the delegates reach the standards required on both the 3a (Scissor Lift) and 3b (Cherry Picker) categories. Well done all concerned. This week has seen me completing a 3 day Electric Reach forklift course for a long standing client in Devon. Both operators demonstrated a good safe standard throughout the training, once the assessments had been completed we moved location to carry out some familiarisation & job specific training onto what the operators will be doing in the future. Its important to get new operators used to new tasks at a pace that does not put them under too much pressure.

Whilst the practical training was being carried out I took the opportunity to use my newly purchased portable magnetic barriers – these were fantastic at controlling the site staff that kept wandering to close to our training area. Quick and easy to use and re-locate I was left wondering why I had never used them before. I will use these every time I am in a warehouse location moving forward.
